Lee Duffy was born 9th January 1987 in Perth, Western
Australia. Growing up with a passion for art, painting and drawing etc, reading and writing, and of course music, has led to the talent found in The Circus Room. Lee started playing guitar at 13, followed by keyboard. With years of practice in his room mixing and sampling and sequencing to add to it all, he has finally made his one-man masterpiece, well, a taster at least.
During his school years, Lee co-founded a band, Sable,
with some school friends. Due to various reasons including laughter,
messing around, distractions like fish and chips, Sable never got
anywhere and so disbanded. Lee moved to England for 16 months and during
this time wrote a fair bit of music, mostly far different to The Circus
Room, but hopefully will one day be heard. One of Lee's dreams is to produce a soundtrack for a film.
Artistically, Lee did drawing classes from the age of about 9, and later
studied art at school, before dropping it to focus on more academic
studies, yet still drawing and painting in his own time.
A keen writer from a very young age, inspired by many authors who works
take pride of place on his bookshelf, Lee has written a lot during his
short life. During Lee's studies of Year 12 English at school, one
assignment was to write a short story. Lee initially failed this task
because not only his own teacher, but 2 other English teachers including
the head of department deemed his work too good to be that of a Year 12
student because clearly a 17 year old was not capable of writing
anything like it, and therefore accused him of plagiarism. After quite a
while, Lee managed to prove it was his work and received an A grade,
however too late to be entered into the Western Australian Young Writers
competition.
